What House Are You?

At Thorn Academy, students are assigned to one of five Houses—Thistlemark, Dreadfyre, Nightthorn, Verdigrim, or Lumenaether—based on their astrological and magical correspondences at birth. Each House serves as a smaller community within the larger school, offering guidance, camaraderie, and a sense of identity throughout a student’s magical education.

Houses are designed to foster personal growth, collaboration, and healthy competition. By belonging to a House, students build lasting bonds with peers who share similar strengths, magical affinities, and personality traits. Houses also provide a structured support system: mentors, senior students, and professors within each House guide apprentices through challenges, ensuring both academic and personal development.

House activities—such as friendly competitions, team challenges, and collaborative magical projects—encourage practical application of skills, reinforce lessons learned in the classroom, and cultivate leadership, responsibility, and ethical decision-making. The House system also introduces a points system, where achievements in academics, service, and magical proficiency earn points for one’s House, promoting motivation, accountability, and a collective sense of pride.

Ultimately, Houses help students thrive socially, emotionally, and academically, providing a microcosm of community that mirrors the collaborative and interconnected nature of the magical world. Through House affiliation, every apprentice gains a home within the Academy—a place to belong, grow, and strive toward mastery alongside supportive companions and mentors.

How to Find Your House at Thorn Academy

At Thorn Academy, each student belongs to one of five Houses, chosen according to elemental and astrological correspondences based on their birthdate. Each House reflects a combination of magical strengths, personality traits, and elemental affinity, ensuring students are placed where they can thrive and contribute meaningfully.

Steps to Join Your House:

  1. Sign In to Your Student Account:

    • Only registered and signed-in students can access House information and join a House group. Ensure your student profile is complete with your birthdate and personal details.

  2. Explore the Houses:

    • Learn about each House, including its element, magical specialty, color, and animal symbol.

    • Reflect on your birthdate, astrological sign, and elemental alignment to determine which House resonates most with your magical identity and personal traits.

  3. Self-Assignment:

    • Students choose their own House based on their reflection and elemental alignment.

    • Enter your choice in your student portal to officially join your House.

  4. Verification and Adjustment:

    • The Dean and faculty will review House assignments.

    • Students placed in the wrong House will be removed and reassigned to the correct House based on their astrological and elemental alignment.

  5. Join House Groups:

    • After choosing and verification, join your House group in the online community platform.

    • House groups are spaces for collaboration, discussions, competitions, mentorship, and magical projects with your fellow House members.

  6. Engage and Earn Points:

    • Participate in House activities to earn House points, develop leadership skills, and deepen connections with peers and professors.

Note: Choosing your House is a personal journey of self-discovery and magical alignment. The Academy ensures every student is in the House where they will thrive, making your House your home for learning, growth, and mastery.

Apprentices excel in healing, divination, and psychic arts, using Water’s fluidity to navigate both challenges and magical exploration with grace and insight.

House Points Mechanics

  • Earning Points: Academic achievement, magical competitions, community service, House events, and demonstrating House values.

  • Losing Points: Misconduct, neglect of duties, or disrespect toward peers or faculty.

  • Tracking Points: Updated weekly by House Prefects on the online House Points Board.

  • Competitions:

    • The House Cup: Awarded to the House with the most points at year-end.

    • Weekly & Monthly Challenges: Extra points for winning contests or showing initiative.

    • Special Achievements: Honorary points for exceptional contributions, magical breakthroughs, or acts of service.
